Art Therapy

Art therapy is a type of artistic therapy that consists of the use of art as a therapeutic route. It is used to heal psychological disorders, treat fears, personal blocks, past trauma, etc.

Apart from the merely therapeutic purposes, Art therapy is a technique of personal development, self-knowledge and emotional expression.  Although initially Art therapy began to be used for purely therapeutic purposes, it has currently expanded its scope of action, also serving for processes of change, as a way of self-knowledge and to develop certain skills such as creativity, perception, intuition, etc.

Art therapy in children is equally effective in alleviating school failure, attention disorders or other series of difficulties that many children have today.

It is not necessary to have any psychological disorder, or to have knowledge of art, but simply to feel the need to explore ourselves through art.

Many therapists use art therapy to cover areas that verbal therapy cannot do. It is being used more and more in homes for the elderly, groups with integration problems, mental deficiencies, or psychiatric patients, etc. Also in the treatment of diseases such as stress, anxiety, fibromyalgia or eating disorders.

a large part of Waldorf education is based on similar foundations in which art as a pedagogical method has provided interesting results.
